Unlucky O’Reilly Bay worth a dollar next start

O’Reilly Bay will be worth backing at his next start, tips trainer Bruce Marsh after the horse’s unlucky seventh at Kranji last Sunday.

March says Lincoln Farms’ six-year-old travelled further than any horse in the race through racing wide throughout.

“And as you would have seen, he came very wide on the turn. He looked a likely chance 200 metres out but just weakened on his run and finished only 2.2 lengths from the winner.

“Taking everything into account, it was a very good race.

“I’m going to give him a test next week and decide whether to run him in blinkers next time.’’

“Once again the bad draw came into play and he raced very wide with no cover. He looked likely at the furlong but couldn’t finish the race off.

“I could put these two horses in a lower class and run for $38,000 but I believe they are worth racing for $60,000 in Class 4.

“It’s now four days since they raced and I’m happy to say that both horses have come through their races particularly well.’’

Marsh says he is giving Darci’s Boy an easy 10 days because of tying up problems but he believes Magic Albert three-year-old On The Razz is ready for a race.

“I think we will go straight to the races on October 12 for $85,000 on the grass. He’s had three trials, I don’t think another one is necessary, and I would like to see how he goes on the grass.

“He is a young horse, growing and still a bit immature, but he is ready to take his first step into racing.

“He is such a great eater, I don’t think it will bother him so let’s give it a shot and I know he will improve a lot with the experience.

“At this stage, I feel he can only go 800 metres to 1000 metres at top speed but let’s hope he will last a bit longer.’’
